I was super into makeup and doing a full face of makeup BC (Before Children). Now that I have three kids, I’m just trying to do some minimum makeup that lets me feel a bit more put together and able to take on the day without scaring everyone around me! So here we go, a few beauty related items that I’m loving right now.
1. Coconut oil
I use coconut oil every night to take off my makeup. I keep a big ole jar underneath my skin and scoop up a quarter sized amount and rub it into my hands to liquify it again. Then I rub it on my eyes to get mascara and eyeliner off and then all over my face, wherever there is makeup. Then I take a washcloth (I got a makeup remover washcloth on amazon that’s kind of like a microfiber cloth, but thicker and softer. You can also use a baby washcloth). I get it nice and warm and soaked in hot water and then just wipe off the oil. It takes off your makeup and hydrates your face and just feels so good.
If I’m feeling extra fancy or if my face just feels like it needs a reset, I use this clay mask. You can mix it with either water or apple cider vinegar. I use the vinegar which sounds crazy, but I feel like it helps “burn” off that top layer of dead skin and really freshens up my skin. The tub is huge and will last for what feels like forever since doing one tablespoon of clay to one tablespoon of vinegar is plenty for one person.
A few months ago, my eyes got super irritated from editing so much and I rubbed them raw. My eyelids just could not seem to heal and were rough, thick and flakey no matter how much lotion I used. I’ve always used cetaphil face wash for my morning wash and used to use their facial lotion (until they changed the formula!!!) so I grabbed a bottle of their eye cream and it quickly helped repair the soft skin on my eyelids and around my eyes. I now use it every morning and night to keep my eyelids hydrated and happy.
Okay, I’m just starting with this, but I am loving it. I’ve been given Retin-A prescriptions before for acne, but didn’t feel like it did much other than dry out my skin. I’ve been putting this on after I remove my makeup at night and I feel like even after the first night, it tightened up my skin and smoothed it out. There are lots of different retinol based creams, but this one came recommended and was on the more affordable side. If you use it, just pay attention to your skin and maybe start off using it every other night until your skin adjusts to it.
BC (Before Children) I was a high end brand makeup purchaser, but with many children, come many costs so I’ve scoured the internet to find the best of the drug store brands. This is the best concealer I’ve used. It lasts throughout the day, it gives good coverage for under eye circles, and I feel like it really brightens up my face. I use it on my eyelids, under eye, and on any acne spots.
I got on the bandwagon for that pink tube of mascara. It’s my current favorite mascara and I love how thick and full it makes my eyelashes with just a few swipes. Double points for being easily accessible, and affordable.
I hope this gave you some ideas of fun new beauty products to try out! I always love to hear about other beauty related tips and tricks, so let me know in the comments if you have something you love to use!
